Assume the reliability of your ability to count (have a view of yourself as a knower that can obtain info about the world around you, relation to environment) More informal and technical than other disciplines: use personal pronouns. Should identify a disagreement that matters to the theory and sketch out 2 intelligent rival positions: take one side and argue for it. Anticipate an objection from the rival point of view and respond to the objections: keep a tight focus and be highly polished. Paper should be persuasive: hostile reader you need to convince the reader to change their mind and adopt your view, need evidence to appeal to someone who might not share your view. Thesis (+ brief intro if needed how you will argue your view, explain key terms, set up topic by describing both opposing views: no fluff introductions. Argument #1 support your thesis, present evidence on your view: should not need to present more than one argument.
