It"s getting people"s stories over a period of time. The ndings may have meaning for similar groups. Set of interrelated concepts, de nitions and propositions that explain a phenomena. Can be used to describe, explain, predict and control that phenomenon. May be concrete or abstract, in that there are different kinds of theories : grand theories, middle-range theories, descriptive theories, prescriptive theories. Theory is a set of interrelated concepts : Concept : an image or symbolic representation of an abstract idea. Concepts get their meaning from the theoretical context in which they are used. Explicit de nitions found in literature : need a consistent de nition. The work of other researchers who try to use the concept in a consistent way. When you use a theoretical framework and conceptual de nitions : it helps you de ne what you are doing and why you are doing it. Sources of conceptual definitions for researchers: existing theoretical publications.
