Definition of health optimum lifestyle, more than physical includes mental health and social health. Nursing has responded to the health care needs of society and is influenced over time by economics and social factors. In 12th and 13th century hospitals built to provide care for the sick. Often it was the nurses who were taking care of people different than now, nurses were women often and weren"t necessarily educated, or from a higher income status because taking care of people was associated with women"s work. Now it requires a specialized body of knowledge. Nursing still retains practical and theoretical components still motivated by altruism and ethical standards. Where the first of nursing became known, the first nurses were male jesuit priests, epidemics nursing care was often the difference between survival and death. Jesuit priests got a lot of training from indigenous people on how to take care of these sick people.
