Describe cellular responses to reversible / irreversible injury. Discuss changes in cell structure & fxn that occur as result of normal adaptive process. Discuss difference b/w cell proliferation and differentiation. Dna synthesis ceases while rna and ps and cell growth take place. S: dna synthesis occurs (replication), giving rise to 2 separate sets of. G2: pre mitotic phase chromosomes, one for each daughter cell. G0: stage cells may leave cell cycle and remain in inactive state or re enter cell cycle. Duplicated chromosomes align for distribution b/w t2 genetically id daughter cells. Checkpoints for monitoring of accuracy of dna rep. Cyclins, cyclin-dependent kinase (cdk), cdk inhibitors, anaphase promoting complex. Checkpoint in s and g2 phase to make sure dna is good. Faulty checkpoint defective cells, abnormal growth. When stresses endanger cell"s normal structure & fxn, cell undergoes adaptive changes to permi survival and maintenance of fxn. When stress = overwhelming or ineffective adaptation cell injury and death.
