Inluenza a pandemic 1918- beds were 1m apart, prevent droplet transmission but not airborn! Americans named it spanish flu but we don"t know where it started. 1918: pigs which can harbor the virus became sick with the viral disease, at the same time humans did! Perfect storm: made it very easy for the antigenic shift to happen. Media didn"t cover it too much because a lot of soilders were infected- all the population would get depressed knewing about the sick soilders abroad. Spanish people didn"t have this media ban so they had a lot of publications must have come from spain and not u. s. Cyanosis- blue tint face because they got no oxygen to their tissues. Flue spread quickly and intensively so that health care workers became too sick to care for patients. Afted a lot of younger and middle age people instead of very young/very old.
