Influenced by roman empire, kingship, married into late roman families, link between franks and merovingians. Tried to pass succession by election of kings, heredity, or by top ranked people. Religion was useful, spiritual beliefs to conquer other places. Convert the king, but all the people don"t know what christianity is, Split between arryans and fundamental belief of the religion. Can attack goths because they are arryan christians. Takes couple of 100s of years before people fully understood what christianity was. Worship at running water, stones is the spine of the earth. Christian temple shrines built where people went to pray.
