To influence the spiritual world (sorcery, curing rituals, etc) Magic can generally can be defined as the use of rituals to manipulate the supernatural. Sorcery: learned use of rituals to cause harm. Witchcraft: using innate mental power to harm others. Deals with the major issues of human existence (meaning of life, death, relationship with deities. Use rituals to appeal to or petition supernatural power for assistance. Magic is known to be the oldest form of religious beliefs!! Imitative magic: rituals that act out or portray the intended results (like produced like) Contagious magic: the idea that things or people once in contact, can influence each other after contact is problem.
