Document Summary

Biol 107 - lecture 13 - eukaryotic cells part 3. Were not created through the infolding for the membrane. Do not send or receive vesicle traffic. A specific compartment involved in oxidation reactions that produce toxic byproducts to the organism. Network of fibers extending throughout the cytoplasm. Function is to provide support, motility, and cell shape. Made up of three types of fibers. Tubulin dimers are a complex of alpha and beta tubulin. Forms a tube with a hollow center. Connects organelles and allows a pathway for vesicles to be carried. Proteins that change shape with atp hydrolysis and carry cargo along the cytoskeleton. Move towards the positive end of the microtubules. Move towards the negative end of the microtubules. Because the microtubule associated motors can only go in one direction, once they get to the end of the microtubule, they must be carried back by another microtubule associated motor.
