Focus: in this lecture we will look at the basic building blocks of life and the chemical bonds that stabilize them. Important concepts to keep in mind are the types of bonds and monomers that make up macromolecules as well as what roles each of the macromolecules plays in the cell. Describe 2 functions for each class of macromolecule. Identify the bond type between each subunit. Be able to draw the chemical structure of the backbone of the monomers. Give an example of each class of macromolecule.
