Where eyes are in relation to nose and mouth. Features matter, but cannot be considered individually. The relationships of facial features guide face recognition. Semantic priming: when you are shown a list of words and then shown a word that was not in the list, but is related. You will recognize the word faster because you have been semantically primed. You will recognize the word dog faster after reading a list including bird, cat, guinea pig . The means by which we actively process a limited amount of information from the enormous amount of information available through our senses, stored memories, and other cognitive processes. We all have experienced distraction natural thing that happens to everyone. Some people suffer from attention deficit disorder (add) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (adhd) or more extreme: unilateral neglect syndrome. We study people with these disorders to understand how attention works and how brain lesions affect attention.
