Linda johnson"s heart and mind was in the right place. The economy was getting shaky because of the vietnam war. The racial issues were also super dividing. They did make many great changes (such as war on poverty), but overall was not played out well. Bay of pigs puts cuba in closer relationship with russia. Castro as a hero for defending the invasion. Americans did some good things in cuba healthcare, etc. Clean poverty clean homes, clean water, everyone is literate and well educated, healthcare, land distribution, etc. Wants to get out with still looking good. Very secretive documents between ellsberg and the government that said vietnam was an unwinnable war for the us. Ellsberg photocopied some of these papers and sold them to newspapers. Huge risk of being charged with treason or killed. Papers come out and turns more people against the war. People felt they were lied to by the people that they elected.
