Famous photo: black teenage girls escorted by federal protection into their new high school. Black people want to eat in white restaurants dragged out by hair. Meredith first black to apply for admission. Governor ordered the mississippi national guard to accompany meredith onto campus and get him into school. Many klansmen arrived, some professors resigned after he was admitted. College sports were rising, especially in the south.
