Tennessee state law and a few other southern states passed an anti-evolution law. Theory of darwin"s evolution was not allowed to be taught in schools. John scopes high school bio teacher, continued teaching evolution, was arrested. Went to trial, became a sensational trial. Atheist; agnostic at best saw it as a challenge. Wins the arguments seems to know bible better than bryan. When bryan brings up the bible, darrow brings in science and other bible verses. Ultimately darrow won the trial scopes lost because he broke the law. Mentioned by martin luther king in his famous speech. William simmons and the klan rose again. Memorial to the confederacy has statues of famous southern confederates. Countries came together and decided how many tonnes of ships each country could build per year based on population and needs. Nervousness, countries becoming aware of each other, hitler beginning to rise. America and france came together and started a pact to outlaw war.
