How is intelligence even de ned: methodological problems. Intelligence is dif cult to de ne and researchers do not agree on a de nition of the term. Differences can be due to genetic factors (heritability) Differences can be due to social factors. Most children"s i. q. is different from their parents. Children generally have higher scores than their parents. Adopted children"s i. q. scores are more similar to their adoptive parents than their biological parents: other criticisms of i. q. tests. Scale used in tests is arti cial and varies between tests (complex mathematical score compared to how others did) No clear correlations between i. q. scores and abilities to perform particular tasks.
