Document Summary

Cervix is the barrier between sterile uterus and non-sterile vagina. At each step you will lose some sperm (usually the ones that are defective) Very few sperm even get to the point to fertilize. The repro tract will move the most fertile sperm up. Male and female nuclei will de-condense so they can come together and form 1 nucleus. The female immune system will kill off some of the sperm. Muscles play huge role in getting sperm to where they need to be. More motile sperm have a better chance of moving themselves into the crypts where the viscosity of the mucous is thinner and they have a "privileged pathway" When sperm are inserted into the cervix tons of sperm are actually expelled from the body. By-passing the cervix dramatically increase the chances that the sperm will not be expelled out of the body. Sperm will start to stay in one place and do figure 8"s.
