When we get to language and the question of performance, there are some overlaps. Loewe makes this point when the talks about performance when people describe a ritual where certain things occur a lot of folks who write about these things traditionally try to focus on the structure of it. The meaning that the individuals are performing do not intend to match what was written. There is a strong move to see language as something other then the route reputation of structure in our head. A lot goes on when language is used in particular settings. There are particular things happening and if we can examine language in those particular settings we can really study the context: ritual speeches and parallel verse. How he presents his particular narrative is how he things the maya approaches these kind of things. They talk about parallelism in maya speech.
