Lecture topic five - ward chapter two: ethnography and mead (ward p. 47) The study of a group of people in their natural settings. Findings will vary greatly in natural vs. artificial settings. Observations and analysis will include meaning attached to their social behaviours. Ethnographic research requires one to combine and/pr merge the insider"s perspective with understandings from an outside point of view. It is important to examine your feelings, biases, personal experience, and your characteristics (gender, class, race, etc. ) This is important because all of these will influence your observations, interactions, and findings with your participants and will affect your writing.
