The vulva: external sexual structures of the female. Mon veneris: fatty tissue covering the joint of the pubic bones. Labia majora: large fold of skin that run downward from the mons along the sides of the vulva. Labia minora: hairless, light coloured membranes located between the labia majora. Clitoris: female sex organ consisting of a shaft, glans, and crura. Vaginal opening- intriotus: hymen- sometimes called maidenhead , can be surgically reconstructed- hymenoplasty. Penis and clitoris develop from the same embryonic tissue but are not fully similar in function (so they are homologous, but not analogous - only the penis is directly involved in reproduction) Pain dring intercourse or arousal: could be a build up of smegma- skin cells, secretions and bacteria under the prepuce. Can result in bleeding and pain/ infection: in bulation. Surgical removal of the clitoris, labia minora, and inside of the labia majora. Vestibule- entrance way : area within the labia minora.
