Like a brain blink atenional blink: the simuli is encoded but ignored as if your brain blinked. Task switching is the ability to alternate between two tasks: there is a switch cost for switching between two tasks. 5 seconds brief storage there is a decay component it is determined by interference. There are three memory systems: sensory, short term, long term. Sensory is the irst process and the shortest form of memory. Sperling (1960) remember as many leters as you can in a brief lash: visual. Long term sensory informaion typically only takes 4 leters: huge memory capacity, for a short duraion. Magic number of 7, + or 2. Can take in who you are seeing but not complex features. Working memory does work, it does not just store informaion. Brown, peterson paradigm examined the length of stm: ater a delay how many things can people remember, 12 seconds you botom out but this may not be decay but interference.
