Observational research: university students, personality, seating selection. Results: pariticpants who crossed the capilano: female confederate, male confederate, participants who crossed the stable bridge. Step 4: collect/analyze the data: collection: the most difficult part of research, procedures for observations and measurements, analyzing: data. Sources of data: self- report data, observer- report data, test data, life- outcome data. Information provided by someone else about another person: no differences for meeting male/female confederate. Information not attainable through other sources: can use multiple observers. Issues in assessment: fallibility of measurement, all sources of data have limitations, results that replicate through triangulation are mort powerful.
