Culture shift happen slower during the renaissance because it was more difficult to transfer information over land masses. No writer is more difficult to pin down than marlowe. Recruited as a spy, no proof that he was or wasn"t. Belonged to a dangerous group of new thinkers called the school of night. Don"t know the order of his work. Don"t know what his original plays look like. Nothing was published before a decade after his death. The state and the church has extraordinary power.
