What should be the definition of depression: it should be fluid so it can mean
something different fro every individual. There is still a stigma and there shouldn’t
be. People need time to get well and society doesn’t accept that
There are many definitions! The state of well-being and the capacity to deal with
stressors. The state of being or wellbeing in life
Why is the secret to happiness course so popular: maybe because everyone
wants to be happy, and social media is making it hard, and expectations to this
generation is high. 90% of our generation is feeling overwhelmed.
What does happiness mean to you?
Sense of fulfillment, balance, social networks really help!!, and it isn’t money (after
75 thousand dollars your happiness doesn’t get higher, you need money to fulfill
your basic needs), sleeping and self care, doing hobbies that you love, good food and
exercise, after meeting you basic needs giving away money to others makes you
happier
Yale is teaching us: self care is very important (get some perspective on gratitude
like what is going well and focus on things that are going well) (you can rewire and
focus on self care and try and be happy)
Postpartum Psychological Complications (it is in family because it affects the
whole family)
Psychosocial complications in the postpartum period have implications for the
mother, newborn, and entire family.
Interfere with attachment to newborn and family integration as a unit

and their babies
Paternal mood disorder
Predictor is having a partner with PMD- 10% of men have depression is women
does as well
Protection against this is early bonding, breastfeeding and skin to skin

because it halps them.
** something cool is for lesbian couples both can feed the baby like they can
stimulate lactation! That’s so cool!!!**
