Similar to dichotic listening task (different message in each ear p tend to attend to one & ignore the other) Salient words: (low threshold stimuli) own name, words of interest. What might eye movement tracking tell us about selective reading? (tracking where eyes are looking towards) P are reading lines they"re asked to attend to, but occasionally flicker on other lines (esp. salient word) More precise way of seeing what people are paying attention to (more on eye movements later in the course)
