New history of psychology (comes from new history of science that happened in the 60s) Philosophy of science and historiography, ontology, theories of nature of being and reality will be covered in the first half of the course. 2 schools of psychology (2 views of the discipline) Written assignments are based on articles we read. 2 exams are mostly mc, some written answers. Know the distinction between traditional and new history perspectives! Most fa(cid:373)ous histo(cid:396)ia(cid:374) of psy(cid:272)hology"s (cid:374)a(cid:373)e is boring. (lol) Psyc 308 is required because it teaches us our independence from philosophy and sociology. Psychologists use empirical methods to test philosophical questions. We will review many historical stories in this course.
