Like a little friend. we can use it as a shield to avoid conversation. Today we are making the argument than there are things that fundamentally need when they grow up. they are called critical periods. For example, there is a critical period for language. The problem now, is that kids are given an ipad instead and are not given the type of interaction that they need. not as good as real interactions. If you have a child thats 6 months old, thats just the beginning, they have a whole childhood to go. Because its looking like its not so good. the little devices are so psychologically powerful they don"t only change what we do, but also who we are. things that we would have thought was disturbing, is now familiar. For example: texting during board meetings, shopping in class. This can lead to us hiding from each other.
