Pineal gland- secretes more melatonin at night with scn is inacive. Stage 1 theta waves (light, short sleep, bodily funcions decline- heart rate, breathing, body temp. , muscle tension) Stage 2 sleep spindle: brief burst of fast frequency waves caused by thalamus; allow you to stay asleep. Stage 3 & 4 delta waves (20%, 50%) Sleep deprivaion: complete deprivaion, parial deprivaion, rem deprivaion.
