Notes of 40 patients seen, (problems with speech) none had problem in r hemispheres. People can understand but cannot produce speech. Have problems expressing meaning in speech & understanding speech. Due to fact that many have damage to wernicke"s area. Split brain patients (2 hemispheres disconnected corpus callosum surgically separated) Used to reduce epileptic seizures b/c signal cannot transfer to other side of brain. Normal people info sent back & forth but if severed info cannot transfer. Differences in the abilities that the l/r hemispheres to process variou types of info. Used to transmit info but doesn"t use neurotransmitters uses hormones. Consists small section (locus) the chromosome that contains the dna. Sets of genes that individual inherits from parents. Observable properties of the body & behavioural traits. Important b/c some alleles = dominant over others. Will produce observable effects in heterozygous or homozygous condition. Will produce observable effects in homozygous only.
