Physiological need maslow: we need to eat to stay alive, however there are people who over ride this need (ex. Psychological explanations: even though we might not need food, we eat anyway. Central controls: biological only part of the story, brain/tumors. External factors: availability of food, taste of food, others eating. External psychological information that will influence whether or not you will eat, eating with others tends to make you eat more. Stunkard"s study (balloon & obese = no r^2) Fear (normal, eat less; obese, no change) Outline one peripheral control and one central control that might contribute to a biological explanation of hunger. Explain how psychology might interact with biology to influence eating behaviour.
