Descriptive rules are the rules that describe the actual language and its grammar that exists in the minds of the speakers. All speakers have shared knowledge and it makes communication possible. Such a model is called a descriptive grammar. In school most of us were taught so-called rules of grammar, which were told to follow in order to speak and write correctly.
