Models of disability are important to understand. Having access to sources and supportive community, you can rise above it or live a good life. A minor disability can cause tremendous harm without access to help. Impairment: a problem in the body function or structure. Activity limitation difficulty encountered by an individual in executing a task or action. Participation restriction: a problem experienced by an individual in involvement in life situations. Disability is not something that only happens to a minority of people. 2010-2011: 15% of the population has some form of disability. Ageing populations and global increase in chronic health conditions associated with disability. Distinguishing between high and low income countries, low income countries are increasing at a faster rate. In addition to age related chronic conditions, mental health conditions are also on the rise, in both high and lower middle income countries. Patterns of disability in a particular country are influenced.
