Women affected experienced: fever, hypotension, rash, peeling hands, toes and fingers. Epidemiologists took those cases and asked what those women ate, did found that toxic shock syndrome from tampons caused symptoms. 175 cases confirmed, 93 hospitalized, 28 with kidney failure, 1 dead: most are women, some kids, 35% sick in three days.
