India: after 1707 a unified political great britain merchants expand their markets, had its greatest economic lead and able to defeat more in battle. 18th century: era of lots of warfare european wars became global affairs (ex: in india + The 7 years war: great britain against france + spain, true global war, it secured british hegemony in india and north africa, gained new france and got rid of french influence, its own colonist in america became troubling. Loss of 13 colonies in west: post 7 years war they become lost, the war was costly, solution: a permanent british army in north america colonies that can fend off other europeans used indirect taxation.
