Poetry is language that we notice language that draws attention. Poetry is an attempt to say the unsayable. What is line 3 of phyllis webb"s poem (x) translate the poem into. We can only bring more words near the poem, and so near the thing the poem is near. Read poems on syllabus + more bring questions to class/prof. Final exam: no need to memorize poems but general qs. What is phyllis webb trying to say about suicide/etc. In short answer may be quotations then analyse. Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul - and sings the tunes without the words - and never stops at all. If i can stop one heart from breaking, i shall not live in vain. Find ecstasy in life; the mere sense of living is joy enough. Not knowing when the dawn will come i open every door. To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else.
