It is an individual test- some are groups- administered by psychologist: wechsler intelligence scale for children individual, canadian cognitive abilities test group. Criticized for culture-bias (used to be worse then now, but there still is some bias) Schools use test to identify exceptional children- critics questions if its necessary. Scores have been increasing by 2-3 points per decade. Gain is mostly in the lower end of distribution. Possible reasons: increased schooling (more school, increased literacy, improved nutrition, better child education, parental literacy/attention to educational development.
