Lecture 6 lethal outcomes in sexual assaults. Is the homicidal sexual offender different from the non-homicidal sexual offender: are we even talking about the same kind of offender, still debated today. Problem #1: there is no specific or legal definition for sexual homicide, not even in the criminal code. It is mentioned in the criminal code, but never directly addressed. This is not only in canada, this problem exists in most countries. Problem #2: the confusion surrounding the terms we use to designate sexual homicide offenders. Terms like lust are often meaning sadistic, are thrown around. People also often assume that sexual homicide offenders are serial or mass murderers. People also often think that all serial killers are sexual homicide offenders not the case. In a roberts & rossman study, they found that the proportion of sexual homicides was about 4% of total homicides committed in canada (1974-1986) approx.
