The idea of psychopathy: hervey cleckley (read reading this week on his book) Coined the term psychopathy : robert hare ubc. A pervasive patern of disregard for, and violaion of, the rights of others (dsm-v) At least 18; symptom before age 15 (3 of the following): failure to conform to norms, aggressiveness, irresponsibility, impulsivity, deceifulness (ex. conning), reckless disregard, lack of remorse: psychopathy. Personality disorder characterized by inability to form human atachment, aggressive narcissism, and anisocial behavior. Now a recognized mental disorder (not in dsm) 20 traits & behaviours typically viewed as negaive by society. Ex. emoional and interpersonal aspects, impulsive, remorseless, irresponsible, lack of feelings, etc: deiniion of apd more narrow than psychopathy. Psychopathic traits (p. 101 list 20 things***) ex. : factor 1 (afecive and interpersonality characterisics) Shallow afect doesn"t understand what real emoion is like. Failure to accept responsibility for own acions: factor 2 (social deviance)
