Scientific way to deduce who the killer is based on scientific expertise. Common, predictable behavioural patterns that all people share. Profilers look at actions before, during, and after crime. The offender"s method, change over time as they gain more experience. Less likely to change even if they acquire more experience. Not doing as accomplishing crime, doing it to show this is who they are. Intentionally altering the scene to deflect investigators from the victim"s behaviour. Bringing something to the scene that wasnt there. Undoing also alters the scene but not for the same reason. The offender is trying to undue the murder. May clean the crime scene, position the body in a certain way, or dehumanize the face. General psychological description in general of a criminal. Establish a psychological profile of their features. Identify the traits of an offender, their behaviour, their psychology, their geography based on the crime.
