Log in, lab work flow, version control, command shell links. This assignment is a primer for the work flow you will follow in all of your labs. Follow these instructions carefully, for an easy one-task credit: using the computer from the command line shell. In the instructions that follow, you will operate the computer using the text-based command-line interface, known as the shell. While most people use graphical interfaces these days, the command shell is the best interface for some purposes. You need to learn at least basic usage, and if you persist in computer science you will find that developing decent command shell skills will be extremely useful. This is not a course about the shell, though instructions and hints are provided in the first few labs to get you started. You can ask for help if you get stuck, but we will not lecture you about the shell.
