What makes a document a document: look at indicators of multiculturalism. Why documentary is useful: when to use it, when to rely on other methods. Hard to assess authenticity of documents we come across. The more the item circulates, the more it gets away from the original source. Sometimes we rely on documents to make decisions that make impact on our life. If documents are inauthentic, the implications could be grave: copies of copies of copies, etc, content is replicated out of context. Versions of versions. : difficult to verify if document is genuine or authentic, re-appropriation: use documents in such ways that you are removing the intent of the document from its origin. Think and analyze whether the publisher is real and reputable. Check how long website has been around. In era where we are constantly exposed to news content, it is difficult to distinguish between what is biased and what is considered accurate and credible.
