BPK 143 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Osteoporosis, Natural Killer Cell, Body Composition
Document Summary
Genotype + environment = phenotype: provide as complete a definition of fitness as you can. There are different components to physical fitness that athlete might need. Infectious diseases are disease where a pathogen (i. e. virus) is present and causes damage to the body. Infectious diseases have been replaced by chronic diseases due to sanitation. Chronic diseases are diseases that develop overtime and persist for long periods of time: describe the components of physical fitness. Body composition- the amount of non-fat and fat on an individual. Cardiovascular endurance- ability to endure moderate to vigorous activity for long periods of time. Flexibility- the ability to move through a normal range of motion and beyond. Muscular endurance- the ability to endure moderate to vigorous localized muscle movements for extended periods of time. Performance related components aren"t necessary for the general population, mainly athletes: separation of components into health-related and performance- related may not be an ideal model.
