Behavioural Sciences BHS402 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Physical Restraint
Document Summary
Punisher: immediate consequence of an operant behaviour (something that you have learned to do), that causes that bx to decrease in frequency, duration, rate or intensity. Restitution: fix the environment disrupted by the problem behaviour (better than what it looked like in the beginning). Example- you had a party in your dorm. The ra comes and says you have to clean the dorm and the common area as well. You have to do more than you did (over correct it). Guided compliance: physically guided to comply with request (taking kelly"s arm to walk down the hallway). If kelly won"t respond to positive practice (telling her to walk down the hallway), then you go to guided compliance (more aversive). Physical restraint: body part is held immobile for a specified period of time (response blocking or response interruption). It can be manual (hold hands down) or mechanical (put into a device: if you do head banging, hands are put into wrist weights).
