Looked at sociology of work not work and family. Cannon of sociology didn"t care about the family (marx and durkheim). They are not nice guys because they never cared about their family. They were interested in sociology of work and how society was organized around work. He was interested in everyone conforming in society and how do you make them conform. Any form of resistance is chaotic because that was how society was to work. He wrote in france in the late 1880"s during industrial revolution. He wanted to know what it was like before the industrial time and after. How did it demand and get to conform and make people do their jobs and continue to do in in an orderly fashion. He was looking at how did order and conformity come about before industrial time aka mechanical solidarity. They was these society was organized was that everyone in society knew each other, lived in small towns/villages.
