This production of knowledge and information was disseminated by the church, everything explained (even in judaism, islam, protestantism) , use concept of fear and superstition, including sexuality. Expect a kid 9 months from that day (this is the purpose of marriage) Monogamy is a recent concept: came with the dying down of the catholic church.
