Gender as action and charactersistics associated with male and female (sex), set as binary-false. Men- assertive, strong and powerful, independent females- followers, frail, dependent, nurturing while if a male were to be nurturing it"s shown as weak. Women have to be pretty men usually are dominant roles vs. women who are submissive. Sex- socially agreed upon biological criteria for classifying people as male or female . Sex category- the group a person is placed in depending on the sex criteria-expressed through socially required behaviors, dress, etc (there are institutional of sex category, i. e. health card. Gender society (society writes itself on this system) Sex as binary, as a static, given biological category. Gender as a social construct that changes acros time and place, written upon sex. We are born male and female we become men and women. Sex is not binary nor static- human created. Gender is also created and written upon sex.
