Everyone belongs to a race and ethnicity although they are social constructions they become part of how we live, treat people, and have material reality in people"s lives you become gendered through power relations. These were the things that stood out to. They make fun of their own community, race was thought to be inherently biological, features that are not white and protestant were seen as inferiority, so you had to change your look, your psychological characteristics: gendered racialization. Western society has a very universalistic idea of who is a person. In the enlightenment in the 1700"s the concept of the universal man appeared and he was constructed as the basis for human kind. The concept of the universal man was used to say that all white privileged propertied men were rational beings and that as rational being they should be allowed to choose everything about their lives.
