What arab stereotypes have persevered throughout the history of hollywood: arabs are violent/ incompetent, not to be trusted. How are imagines of arabic men and women sexualized: women are passive/ but objectified, arabic men are hyper sexualized, arab women are either super sexual, or reduced to a silent object. After 9/11: 1980s: the iranian revolution, the old embargo, the palestine-israeli conflict, father of the bride ii, men from the middle east are so rich, but ridiculous with their money, 9/11: arabs are terrorists and suicide bombers. Socially acceptable ways to represent your bodies and socially acceptable bodies. Male and female bodies are expected to behave and look different. We learn these body norms everywhere, in pop culture, education system. Bodies that do not adhere to socially prescribed ways of being are policed and understood as deviant bodies. Picture: some hair is deemed socially acceptable/ desirable if you don"t have.
