Individual resistance: through state mechanisms, collective resistance: alliances and solidarities. Role of the state in terms of racism: do about racism: for example what does the canadian government, depends on the government system, the state can have positive or negative impact. Resisting: the reluctance to create anti-racist vision. In education system, university campus, wider society. What can be done to resist this reluctance: the lack of commitment. From leaders in society, ex. politicians, govt officials, lawmakers. Example: the canadian government"s inadequate policies for helping aboriginals. Solidarity and alliance is a commitment to: working together to show solidarity, raising awareness of oppression, marginalizing, , cultural awareness or sensitivity: being aware of and analyze different cultures, ideologies, practices, race awareness & prejudice reduction training. Identifying the barriers: identifying discrimination, prejudices, racism, inequality, colonizing behavior, exclusion. Lack of accountability from individuals, people in power.
