Masculinity represented: commercials with strong men, displays of aggression the house, throughout the game. Demographic responsible for car accidents: all genders, all legal drivers. Fatalities increase 41% between 10pm and 11pm on super bowl sundays. Assumption: the olympic games foster good will and domestic and international unity. Social structures function in positive ways: economy, education, health, politics, and sports. Can"t function if we all have the same. Differences are good, needed for the society to function. Latent functions: outcomes that are less obvious. Example: manifest and latent functions of the olympic games.
