Violence against women + social change: personal interventions, counselling: Opposed to family counselling b/c revictimizing to face abuser, it is abusive according to feminist. Men only go for counselling when women want to leave. You cannot talk infront of abuser, talk about abuse you face b/c you will go home with them after words, they will abuse you the whole way home. How dare you tell them that about me. Why women wont testify- get revictimized by presence of abuser: battered women"s shelters. Feminist thought police had way too much discretion, did not like that police were not required to charge, when the victim would ask to lay charges police refused private matter . Even with mandatory charging and conviction- would always get a conditional discharge- women still as husbands mercy and vulnerable to his violence- women would refuse to testify against husband b/c when he got bailed out, he would beat her.
