Death rate is twice as much, and 20 years less than average canadian. Status indians- was about your status had to come through your father not your mother, (father had to be aboriginal) . Non-status indians means you were radicalized as aboriginal but had a european father. To be able to vote, go to university, own property, or to drink/purchase alcohol, you had to give up their status.
